About us

Harbour Veterinary Group has been established in the Portsmouth area for over 40 years. Originally started by Mr Richard Pratt who together with his partners expanded the group to a hospital and four branch surgeries. Mr Pratt retired in 2001 and Richard Nunn took over with John Moffitt and Stephen Hanvidge.

Upon Richard Nunn’s retirement in November 2008, Harbour Veterinary Group was acquired by CVS (UK) Limited, a large organisation with many practices across the UK providing support and sharing expertise but allowing the practice to keep their name and brand. John Moffitt is still with us and is now senior veterinary surgeon at our main veterinary hospital in Portsmouth.

We have a team of dedicated veterinary surgeons supported by nurses, receptionists, administrators, support staff and a practice manager. All of the staff at Harbour Veterinary Group take pride in their work and are passionate about what they do, always putting the wellbeing of their patients first. We also have our own dedicated out of hour’s emergency service with a dedicated night team to provide continuous care for your pets.

We have a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons standards accreditation for our hospital and all six branches. All our practices are RCVS training practices where we are able to train our nurses to qualify as registered veterinary nurses. We encourage further professional development for our vets – currently we have two vets with certificates in cardiology, surgery and medicine and another two vets who are currently studying for their certificates in medicine and dermatology.

Harbour Veterinary Group strives to provide gold standard service to all our clients. This includes offering our own out of hours and emergency service MiNightVet at the hospital in Portsmouth.
